Baseball play-by-play broadcasting and minority representation

The veteran play-by-play man Dave Sims can’t tell you exactly when, but it was around this time back in 2006 when he started. All he’d ever wanted to do was call MLB games, and a decade ago, he became the voice of the Seattle Mariners.

But that voice knew it was alone. Sims remembers spending those first years noting that he was one of a handful of minorities working play-by-play. Ten years later, he still sees the same disparity.
